Wilson has studied Yang style tai chi under Sifu Neighbors for over 6 years and was the first student to become a Tai Chi for Seniors instructor at The Woodlands Recreation Center. His training includes the 8 Step Form, Short Form, Bejing Short Form, basic pushing hands and qigong. Wilson designed and operated the Tai Chi Day - The Woodlands for several years. Without Wilson's personal and professional support, Tai Chi Day - The Woodlands would never have been started. Wilson is currently leading two special needs tai chi program in The Woodlands. He has also written a book about using tai chi in a chair for special needs group.
Dick Dunsmore has studied Yang style tai chi for over 10 years under Master Wang of Humble and Sifu Neighbors. Training includes, 108 Posture Form, Short Form, Bejing Short Form, tai chi saber and tai chi fan. Dick was asked and accepted the position of assistant instructor to help with the increasing size of the program at the WRC. He was awarded the rating of instructor in the summer of 2012 and was awarded his black belt from Master Wang. Dick has demonstrated throughout the area and his tai chi fan is very popular.
Jim P has studied Yang style tai chi under Sifu Neighbors for over 8 years. He has also trained in Yang style tai chi under other instructors for an additional 8 years. Training includes, 108 Posture Long Form, 24 Posture Short Form, Bejing Short Form, the 8 Step Form, Liuhebafa (“Water Boxing”), push hands and qigong and Wu Hoa tai chi. Jim has also trained in Northern Fist and Praying Mantis Kung Fu. His weapons training include the dao, bo/staff and spear, Before his postion of instructor, Jim was the class leader and senior student. He has also insured the smooth running of Tai Chi Day-The Woodlands over the years as site director the primary instructor for the qigong workshops.
The Class Leader can be either an advance student or senior student. They are responsible for insuring the class starts on time and everyone stays on topic. The class leader main duites are to lead the warm ups, work with the beginners as needed, make any announcements and take attendance. This postion may be rotated based on availibility.
Guest instructors are invited to teach during the year. They are martial artists that have studied history, philosophy, health benefits and the applications of tai chi. They have also spent hundreds of hours training and studying in their chosen field. Instructors are selected based on both their ability to interact with students and knowledge.
