Featuring the Tai Chi Social Hour
The Tai Chi Society of Texas was formed in 2012 and expand the Tai Chi Social Hour that started in 2002. The orgainization's purpose is to provide quality tai chi instruction to loctions that are not able to afford the cost of a tai chi program. Orgainizations that work with the people who can benefit the most from tai chi are often times operating on a limited budget. The cost of bringing in a professional tai chi instructor is impossible.
The Tai Chi Society of Texas will train a person at a low cost or no cost bases in exchange for the individual providing free classes to a specified location. Instruction is also availible to orgiainizations that wish to start a program using their own people. Training is offered at two levels, exercise leader and tai chi instructor. We have trained several instructors in both Montgomery and Harris counties that have started sucessful free and low cost programs in churches, retirement centers, nursing homes and assistanted living centers. Our intructors have trained a third generation of instructors that continue to spread tai chi.

Older students are introduced to tai chi in a relaxed yet structured program. Students are taught the Yang Style 8 Step Form. This form was designed for people with limited mobility or space. The 8 Step Form does not contain the low stances or complex foot work found in the longer forms. Returning students may also learn the Beijing Short Form.
